Higher Education Commission HEC Scholarships for Royal Holloway, University of London

Introduction:

Applications are invited from outstanding Pakistani nationals for the award of PhD scholarships for Royal Holloway, University of London (RHUL), UK, jointly funded by HEC and RHUL.  The scholarships will be awarded for academic session starting Fall 2015

Eligibility Criteria:

 

1)     Pakistani nationals

 

2)     Candidates must have minimum Eighteen years of education

 

3)     Maximum two second divisions throughout the academic career

 

4)     Maximum age on Monday May 18, 2015:

a)  40 years for full time regular faculty members of public sector Universities/Colleges and employees of the

public sector R & D organizations

b)  35 years for all others

 

5)     Applicants need to have minimum cumulative 50% academic marks as per HEC Academic Evaluation Formula

(HEC-AEF). The HEC-AEF is available at HEC website

 

6)     Applicants must have secured admission into a PhD program in the Royal Holloway, University of London, UK for

fall 2015 session.

 

Application Procedure:

 

The following documents are required to be submitted along with the prescribed application form:

 

1)     Photocopy of confirmed admission letter for PhD Program at Royal Holloway, University of London, UK.

2)     Attested photocopies of all educational testimonials by gazatted Govt. officer

3)     Attested photocopy of CNIC

4)     CV/Resume

5)     Attested photocopy of domicile

6)     Statement of Purpose for pursuing higher studies (max. 500 words)

7)     Research Proposal

8)     Original online Deposit slip of Rs. 200/- (non-refundable) in favor of the Director General Finance, Higher Education Commission, H-9, Islamabad on account number 0112-00500119-01, HBL Aabpara Branch Islamabad as processing fee…

Please Note: Before applying, candidates must have identified a supervisor whose recent research closely matches their interests. To do so, candidates are encouraged to contact potential supervisors with details about their research proposal and a summary of their academic qualifications (i.e. a brief CV)

 

2)     Scholarships are tenable in all fields of study except Agriculture and chemistry subjects.

 

3)     Candidates having direct admission into PhD program will be considered. Admission in Master program will not

be considered.

 

4)     Funding for a maximum period of 3 years will be provided for PhD program.

 

5)     Awardees have to execute a bond with the HEC to serve in Pakistan for 5 years after completion of study,

preferably in an institution of Higher Education

 

6)     Incomplete or applications received after due date will not be entertained

 

7)     In-Service candidates should apply through proper channel

FDPS Scholarships 2015

FDPS is one of the longest running and most comprehensive Pre-master’s programmes in the UK and provides a complete package of preparation for postgraduate study including academic subjects, a research project and research methods classes, as well as academic English and study skills.

With effect from 2015, FDPS students will receive guaranteed conditional offers for many of the most popular Master’s programmes at SOAS including:

  • All MSc Management programmes
  • All MA Law programmes
  • MA International Studies and Diplomacy
  • All MA Art History programmes
  • MA Gender Studies
  • All MA Area Studies
  • All MSc Development Studies

To be eligible for a scholarship, you need to accept the offer of a place before 30th April 2015 so please apply early. You can find the application form on the FDPS programme page.

Terms and Conditions

  1. All students who apply for FDPS 2015-16 and accept an offer of a place before 30th April 2015 (including the payment of a 10% deposit) will automatically be considered for a scholarship, except students who already hold an offer of a place at SOAS with no academic conditions at the time they apply for FDPS.
  2. Scholarships will be awarded on academic merit and will be judged on the basis of the student’s university transcript and academic reference, English level, IFCELS entrance test (if taken) and interview performance. Scholarships will be awarded to students who are interested in postgraduate study at SOAS and who demonstrate the potential to achieve the entry requirements and to study successfully at postgraduate level.
  3. Successful candidates will be informed by the end of May 2015. The decision of the Head of IFCELS Department on the awards will be final.
  4. £1000 will be deducted from the balance of the fees owed by each of the scholarship winners which should be paid by the first day of the programme – 16th September 2015. Please note that, in order to apply for a visa to study on FDPS, students will need to meet the English language requirements for study at premasters level.
  5. A further £1000 will be deducted from the scholarship winners’ postgraduate fees if they register for their postgraduate programme at SOAS in September 2016. This will be in addition to the 5% fee discount offered to all FDPS students progressing to SOAS. This award cannot be deferred to 2017.
