The following information is designed to provide candidates with broad guidelines on the criteria for the award of the Engineering and Computer Science Scholarship. This information is intended for guidance only.
Postgraduate Scholarship applicants will be assessed on the basis of the following:
Successful candidates will be required to achieve the equivalent of a very good UK bachelor degree in an engineering discipline. Individual module/subject grades (including resits) will be considered.
Percentage marking systems
The marking scale used in percentage-based grading systems varies widely between countries, subjects and institutions. As a result, when deciding whether a candidate’s grades represent outstanding academic performance, the University’s experience and knowledge of the country’s educational system, of the student’s subject area and of the marking systems used by individual institutions will be taken into consideration.
Where appropriate, the overall ranking of the candidate within their cohort will also be taken into account.
Successful candidates will be required to demonstrate a good level of English Language proficiency.
The information provided by the candidate in their personal statement will be considered alongside the evidence of their academic potential, as assessed through the candidate’s formal qualifications. The personal statement (of no more than 500 words) allows the candidate to demonstrate:
- Other achievements or involvement in extra-curricular activities
- Relevant work experience
- The potential to benefit from the experience of studying at the University of Hertfordshire and to make a significant ongoing contribution to the University community.
