The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has announced to provide 50 per cent fee concession to the students of drought-hit parts of Tharparkar.

 The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has announced to provide 50 per cent fee concession to the students of drought-hit parts of Tharparkar.

The fee concession will be available up to master-level programmes for the current semester (spring 2014), said a press release. Those who have already deposited full fee will be able adjusted 50% fee concession in the next semester.

While chairing a meeting of a special task group on the drought-situation on Wednesday, AIOU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nazir Ahmed Sangi said that the university staff will consider giving their one day salary to the effected people to help them in their hour of trial.

The meeting was briefed about the drought situation in Mithi and Umerkot by the AIOU officials through video-conferencing.

The meeting was also attended by Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof Dr Rashid A Naeem, President Officer Welfare Association Muhammad Qasim Haider and others.

AIOU announces 50% fee concession for Associate Degree in specialized fields

Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) on Monday announced a special package of incentives, providing 50% fee concession to the students of Associate Degree in specialized fields from the current Semester, Spring 2014. The concession would be available in the fields such as hotel  management, tourism management, hospital management, banking and finance, human resource management, information technology management and marketing management. It was decided that 50% admission fee of the students will be paid from the University’s Students’ scholarship Fund.

 

The decision was made by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Nazir Ahmed Sangi in order to promote socio-economic education in the country.
It is hoped that the number of students in specialized fields will beincreased with this fee concession. Now, the students will be able to receive quality education in these fields, with minimum possible fee, said Dr. S.M. Amir Shah, Assistant Profession Department of Commerce.
The decision will help to boost manpower in the specialized fields and  to meet the requirements of the public and private sector industries.
It will also facilitate the students to get employment and take part in socio-economic department of the country.
The Associate degree programme was recently launched by the University’s Commerce Department, keeping in view the growing manpower requirements of the industrial sector.
It may be mentioned that admissions in these programme are currently  in progress. The students who have qualified FA or equivalent to it with 45% marks could get admission in these programme.
