Short Training by IBBT at UVAS
Molecular biology deals with the molecular basis of biological activity. Molecular biology chiefly concerns itself with understanding the interactions between the various systems of a cell, including the interactions between the different types of DNA, RNA and protein biosynthesis as well as learning how these interactions are regulated. The basic techniques of molecular Biology are DNA extraction from variety of source samples, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), and Real Time PCR. DNA extraction is the removal of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) from viruses or other cells to perform a number of processes including the sequencing of genomes, detection of bacteria and viruses in the environment, detection of diseases, and many other forensic and diagnostic processes. The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is a biochemical technology in molecular biology used to amplify a single or a few copies of a piece of DNA across several orders of magnitude, generating thousands to millions of copies of a particular DNA sequence. A quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR), also called real-time polymerase chain reaction, is a laboratory technique of molecular biology based on the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), which is used to amplify and simultaneously quantify a targeted DNA molecule. These techniques have widespread applications in many areas of genetic analysis such as Medical applications, Infectious disease applications, Forensic applications and research application.
